Project Description:
One of the most difficult tasks for a designer is to be their own client. Kent Murnen's vision of "home" is finally becoming a reality. The project is meant to challenge convention & has been an effort in "green" construction & affordability from it's conception. Striving for an emphasis on quality, not quantity & utilizing a design+build approach, Kent divided the project into phases to maximize useability, afordability & buildability. The design incorporates the re-use of the existing ranch structure, salvaged materials, recycled content fiber-cement siding, radiant floor heating, on-demand hot water, spray-foam insulation, natural ventilation & most importantly an efficient floor plan & use of space.
